In a turn of events that absolutely nobody could have ever seen coming at all, players of the survival MMORPG Dune: Awakening have found ways to make endgame PvP activities awful for other people. This is our shocked face.
One of the major issues being raised by players is related to the Landsraad, the primary endgame activity that seeks to draw PvP and PvE players into the FFA PvP Deep Desert zone in order to earn benefits for all players associated with a primary faction. The problem, according to posters on Reddit, is that the activity is angled to massive guilds, while solo players and small guilds can barely earn contribution points, are effectively locked out of meaningful participation, or aren’t fast enough to help out because massive guilds immediately swarm objectives.
A wide variety of solutions are being proposed by fans that include raising or eliminating the contribution cap, showing each faction’s progress in order to stop large guilds from making alts on the opposing faction in order to sneakily see what enemies are trying for, and letting individuals complete turn-ins for personal rewards even as Landsraad goal tiles are claimed.
Another matter that’s harming any sense of fair PvP is players using ornithopters as kamikaze missiles against those who are on-foot. A video shows off the tactic, with one player being crushed to death while the ornithopter appears to barely take any sort of damage. Luckily, game director Joel Bylos is aware of the “goomba stomping” problem, as he puts it, and promises a fix is coming.
Meanwhile, the survival MMO is continuing to address server stability and lag, with its most recent update seeking to fix reports of high ping across multiple regions. It’s also making sure people know the game has gotten a lot of critical praise. Just be aware that there are apparently some major issues at the endgame.
